(Blairstown, IA) -- An eastern Iowa man is in custody and facing multiple child abuse charges.
The Benton County Sheriff's Office investigated the case and eventually arrested 35 year-old Shawn Bendickson of Vinton. He's accused of abusing a female child under the age of 12 from January of 2014 through December of 2018 in Blairstown. He now faces the following charges:
- Second Degree Sexual Abuse
- Lascivious Acts with a Child
- Assault with Intent to Commit Sexual Abuse
If convicted of Second Degree Sexual Abuse or Lascivious Acts with a Child, Bendickson would be required to ne on lifetime parole and remain on the Sex Offender Registry for life.
