Ben Sasse approved as next President of the University of Florida

(Gainesville, FL) -- Nebraska U.S. Senator Ben Sasse is officially approved as the next President of the University of Florida.

On Wednesday, the University of Florida board of governors confirmed Sasse as the school's 13th president. The approval was the final hurdle Sasse had to clear in order to take over the job. Last week, the university's board of trustees unanimously recommended Sasse for the job.

Wednesday afternoon, Sasse accepted the offer and announced that he will resign his Senate seat at the beginning of next year. Governor-elect Jim Pillen will appoint someone to fill the vacancy after he takes office.
