(Des Moines, IA) -- Des Moines Police are investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting that took place Sunday night.
Police say officers responded to reports of a domestic dispute in the 400 block of East McKinley Avenue and found a 16 year-old male armed with a handgun at the scene. The suspect was inside an apartment with other family members.
Investigators say officers tried to de-escalate the situation until the teen pointed the gun at the officers, at which time multiple officers opened fire. Officers immediately administered CPR and other life-saving efforts, and the suspect was taken to an area hospital. He later died of his injuries.
The shooting remains under investigation.
