After Deep Freeze, Milder Holiday Temps For Omaha/Council Bluffs

Relatively mild winter weather has settled in over the Omaha/Council Bluffs region this Holiday Week between Christmas and New Year's, and the jet stream gets the credit. "It was coming from the north, generally speaking, and now it's gonna kinda come from the south," Omaha National Weather Service Meteorologist Taylor Nicolaisen tells KFAB Radio News. "And alot of times that will mean a busier pattern, too."

The Weather Service says, with that in mind, Wednesday night and Thursday bring a 50-70 percent chance for a mix of light snow, freezing rain, and rain, especially in northeast Nebraska.

Some light accumulations of snow and ice will be possible and may be enough to cause treacherous travel north of I-80 and the Platte River, but that's not expected in the Omaha/Council Bluffs Metro area.
