Man Facing Charges For Abandoning Dog Outside Des Moines Airport

(Des Moines, IA) -- A New Jersey man is facing charges after abandoning his dog outside the Des Moines Airport on December 29.

24-year-old Charles Bigsen is charged with animal abandonment and animal neglect. He left the dog tied up outside after being told he couldn't board his flight without a kennel. He left, then returned without the dog and boarded the flight. The 1-year-old dog, nicknamed Allie, has been surrendered to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa.

The ARL says Allie will be up for adoption after getting her spay surgery, a microchip, and general veterinary services.
