(West Des Moines, IA) -- The City of West Des Moines and the West Des Moines Human Rights Commission are hosting a community food drive in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr.
Donations can be dropped off at:
- West Des Moines City Hall, 4200 Mills Civic Parkway
- Jordan House Museum, 2001 Fuller Road
- Historic Valley Junction Foundation Office, 137 5th Street
- West Des Moines Library, 4000 Mills Civic Parkway
- La Michoacana Grocery Store, 433 5th Street
- Bankers Trust, 620 60th Street
- West Des Moines Chamber of Commerce, 650 S. Prairie View Drive
- WDMCS Learning Resource Center, 3550 Mills Civic Parkway
- MidAmerican Energy Company RecPlex, 6500 Grand Avenue
Donations can also be dropped off at the SE Corner of the WDM Human Services Building at 139 6th Street Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to noon.
They say the most needed items are baby food, formula, dry and canned beans, canned vegetables, canned fruit, peanut butter, canned meat, whole grain cereal, pasta sauce, non-meat proteins, pasta, rice, and soup.
Canned foods with pop-top lids, canned fruit in 100% juice or water, and healthy snacks are preferred.
Homemade food and open food products will not be accepted.
