Marengo Plant Continues To Pose Environmental Risks After Explosion

(Marengo, IA) -- A Marengo plant continues to pose environmental risks nearly one month after a fire and explosion.

Polluted runoff from C6-Zero is being held in a retention pond away from the Iowa River.

However, with recent rain and snow, the pond could fill up and flood the area.

Investigators say pollutants in the plant still haven’t been removed.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is involved in the investigation and the cleanup.
