(Nebraska City, NE) -- A Nebraska City life skills teacher is being charged with felony child abuse – no injury. Police say 50-year-old Melissa Valenta, a teacher with 28 years of service, placed a disabled student in a situation that endangered his physical and mental health at the Nebraska City High School. Two paraprofessionals have also been charged in connection with the case. 40-year-old Emily Kent and 56-year-old Deborah Stidd have been charged with misdemeanor child abuse – no injury. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for February 1st.
