(Des Moines, IA) -- Neighbors posting on social media tipped police to the suspect now accused of shooting fireworks at the home of an elderly south side couple late at night. The home has more than $1000 in damage and police say the couple was terrified.

42-year-old Michael Lee Porter was arrested Wednesday night. According to jail records he is facing charges of intimidation with a dangerous weapon and criminal mischief.

"Blasting off at the house, almost-commercial grade fireworks. These explosions are huge at the ground level." Des Moines Police Sergeant Paul Parizek tells WHO Radio News.

"They've blown out windows at the house, and obviously terrified and tormented these two people.

The couple was reportedly targeted after they complained to police about kids on mini-bikes tearing around late at night.

A teen is also charged in the case.
