(Lincoln, NE) -- Nebraska lawmakers are looking at a bill that focuses on police accountability. On Wednesday Senator Terrell McKinney of Omaha introduced Legislative Bill 284, which would force Omaha and Lincoln to have citizen police oversight boards. Those boards would investigate complaints against police officers. The same bill would also require all law enforcement officers in Nebraska to have a college degree. Current officers would be forced to get a degree by 2037. The bill would also keep law enforcement from keeping lists of suspected gang members.
