(Des Moines, IA) -- Applications for the 2023 Iowa Hero Academy are now open.
The weeklong summer camp allows 16 to 18-year-old girls to explore careers in firefighting, law enforcement, and the military.
Iowa Hero Academy is hosted by the Des Moines Fire Department, Des Moines Police Department, and the Iowa National Guard. The overnight camp will be held at Camp Dodge in Johnston from July 23 to 29.
The last day to apply is February 13.
