(Muscatine, IA) -- A K-9 with the Muscatine Police Department has received bullet and stab-proof body armor.

A Galesburg couple, Don and Misty Fike, donated Dexter's body armor from the non-profit group Vested Interest in K-9s. Inc. The organization makes protective vests for dogs that are at least 20 months old and actively working with local police departments. There are roughly 30,000 police dogs at law enforcement departments across the country.
