(Polk County, IA) -- The Polk County Sheriff's Office reports a rise in phone scams in the last few week.
Locals are being scammed by being told they missed jury duty and need to pay a fine to avoid jail time. Scammers are using the names of actual Sheriff's Office employees in the call.
The office says they will never try to get money over the phone and asks anyone getting these calls to hang up.
