Travel Awaits looked at destinations in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, South Dakota, and Wisconsin, and rated Galena as the best place to visit in 2023. Travel Awaits says Galena's downtown, which features a variety of shops and restaurants, is a strong attraction, as well as historical attractions such as the Ulysses Grant House and the DeSoto House Hotel.
