In a highly competitive job market with low unemployment, the City of Omaha is already hiring recreation staff for this Summer including lifeguards..
"Our lifeguards are starting at thirteen dollars an hour this year, whereas last year they started at eleven," Omaha Parks Recreation Manager Chris Haberling tells KFAB Radio News. "Camp counselors will start at fourteen dollars an hour this year and they started at twelve last year; so. we were able to bump that up a little bit;"
Haberling says they are almost continually in a hiring mode to try and come up with enough staff to open the city swimming pools in June.
