(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- Cedar Rapids will host the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) volleyball tournaments in 2023 and 2024. Kirkwood Community College will be the host school for the 2023 DII and DIII National Volleyball Championships. Cedar Rapids will host DI, DII and DIII National Volleyball Championships in 2024.
Jay Fanta, Director of Sports Tourism with the Cedar Rapids Tourism office says 88 teams from across the country will be traveling to Cedar Rapids in 2023-2024 with an average length of stay of 4 days providing a multi-million-dollar economic impact for the Cedar Rapids community.
“We are excited the NJCAA has chosen the Cedar Rapids community to host their upcoming National Championships in 2023 and 2024,” says Jay Fanta, Director of Sports Tourism with the Cedar Rapids Tourism Office. “Our tournament partners, the Kirkwood Community College and Tournament Director, Tim Keating, played significant roles in winning Cedar Rapids the opportunity to become the primary host for the NJCAA Volleyball National Championships with their work on the NJCAA DII National Championships in the past. We look forward to providing a great experience for the student athletes, coaches and fans in attendance in the coming years.”
Cedar Rapids previously hosted the NJCAA DII Championships for the 2020, 2021 and 2022 seasons at the Alliant Energy PowerHouse. The Alliant Energy PowerHouse will once again serve as the tournament location for each of the upcoming events:
- 2023 NJCAA DIII Championship: November 9-11, 2023
- 2023 NJCAA DII Championship: November 15-18, 2023
- 2024 NJCAA DIII Championship: November 14-16, 2024
- 2024 NJCAA DI & DII Championship: November 20-23, 2024
