(Des Moines, IA) -- Ice skating is now open at Des Moines' Greenwood Park.
The City of Des Moines says the parks team has determined that the ice is thick enough for skating and has removed snow from the surface of the pond. A green flag flying at the park indicates that skating is safe. A red flag indicates that skaters should stay off the ice. The city says the parks team will continue to monitor ice levels for safety throughout the rest of the season.
