(Council Bluffs, IA) -- All seven suspects in an early January murder in Council Bluffs are now in custody.
On Wednesday, the Council Bluffs Police Department announced that three of the seven suspects had been arrested in the drug-related shooting death of 19 year old Tucker Dobberstine, of Fremont, NE. As of Thursday, CBPD says all seven suspects are now in custody.
Investigators say the evening of January 8th, officers were called to an apartment building near 4th Street and Willow to investigate a call of shots fired. CBPD says arriving officers located the victim, 19 year old Tucker Dobberstine of Fremont, NE, in one of the apartments. Investigators say Dobberstine suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the chest.
Police say initial witness information showed that after the shots, several people ran from the building wearing rubber gloves and masks. CBPD says after an exhaustive investigation, detectives found that all seven suspects worked together to plan and commit a robbery of Dobberstine, as he was delivering drugs to them. Investigators say four of the suspects met Dobberstine in the apartment and during the armed robbery shots were fired, killing Dobberstine. Police say those suspects then left the apartment and jumped into an awaiting vehicle that was occupied by two other suspects. Investigators say the apartment tenant was not present during the incident, but police say that she had prior knowledge of the planned robbery.
All seven suspects will be charged with Murder in the 1st Degree and Robbery in the 1st Degree for their involvement in Dobberstine's death.
