Iowa Newborn's Heart Re-Starts After 18-Minutes Of Compressions

(Dubuque, IA) -- Doctors and nurses at Dubuque's Finley Hospital are calling Gwendolyn Yeo the "Miracle Baby" after her heart started beating again after 18-minutes of compressions in the delivery room. William and Traci Yeo recently returned to the the hospital to show off baby Gwendolyn and to say thank you for all their efforts on the day Gwendolyn arrived.

Tracy says she felt sharp pains on January 12th, and headed to the hospital. Doctors and nurses determined the baby's heart beat was failing with every contraction, so an emergency C-section was ordered.

Labor and Delivery Nurse Jenni Scott says the baby's heartbeat continued to weaken and her color was poor, and there were no signs of life. Staffers performed compressions until Gwendolyn's heart started beating again. The Yoes say they're told Gwendolyn has made a full recovery and should not have any lingering issues related to her dramatic entry into the world.
