Donahue had been charged of robbing a Casey's in Coggon and shooting Deputy Will Halverson 7 times. The Jury got the case yesterday (Monday). A sentencing date has not been announced.

During the trial County Attorney Nick Maybacks said there was no doubt Donahue shot to Kill Halverson June 20th, 2021. Donahue's attorney argued DNA was inconclusive and did not rule out more than one suspect.

Shortly after the verdict the Linn County Sheriff Brian Gardner sent out a statement, thanking the jury and the Linn County Attorney's Office for their "tireless work in the pursuit of justice by holding Stanley Donahue accountable for his criminal actions." Gardner also says the men and women of the Linn County Sheriff's Office have "shown tremendous professionalism throughout this tragic and needless event, from their initial response to their thorough investigation, including their compelling testimony at trial. I am very thankful to have such an outstanding group of men and women willing to provide such professional services to our community."
