(Sarpy County, NE) -- Sarpy County is changing when it tests its severe weather sirens.
Beginning in March, regularly scheduled tests of the outdoor warning siren system in Sarpy County will be conducted on the first Wednesday of every month at 11 a.m. The first test of 2023 is scheduled for Wednesday, March 1, at 11 a.m. Tests were previously conducted at 10 a.m. on the first Saturday of the month.
The county says new Wednesday schedule will better facilitate system upkeep and will occur at the same time as Douglas County’s test. The system is tested monthly from March through October. Tests may be delayed, postponed or cancelled if temperatures are too cold or if severe weather is in the area.
