(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- A Cedar Rapids man's been charged in a homicide that happened more than a decade ago. Police say 42-year-old Curtis Padgett is accused of killing 64-year-old Dennis First either May 10th or 11th, of 2007. Police say Padgett beat and stabbed First during an argument. First was found dead in his apartment at 2249 C St. SW. No arrests were made at the time, but investigators continued pursuing the case and evaluating leads and evidence.
On February 28, 2023, Curtis Padgett was charged with harassment in an unrelated incident. Today, (Wednesday) an additional charge of First Degree Murder was submitted. Padgett remains in custody at the Linn County Jail.
