(Des Moines, IA) -- A Des Moines man faces multiple charges after police say he attacked his neighbor with a hammer. Court records say 53-year-old Roy Hogan got into an argument while on the phone with his neighbor, then grabbed a hammer and went to the neighbor's apartment down the hall.

Court records say Hogan struck the victim in the head and hand with the hammer. The victim was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover.

Police say Hogan told them the victim kept asking to borrow money and never paid him back.

Hogan is charged with attempted murder, burglary, and causing serious injury. He's being held in the Polk County Jail.
