(Undated) -- Moderate to heavy snow is possible later this week in the northern half of Iowa.
The National Weather Service says a winter storm will create hazardous impacts across portions of the state Thursday into Thursday night, with some areas getting up to 9 inches of snow.
The NWS says snowfall rates may be intense at times Thursday afternoon into the evening, which could further degrade driving conditions for the evening commute.
Forecasters say considerable uncertainty remains with snowfall potential and severity of travel impacts just south toward the Highway 30 and Interstate 80 corridors, where temperatures will be near to just above freezing. Travelers will need to pay close attention to weather updates.
