(Undated) -- Thanks to four months of above normal rain, Iowa's drought picture is showing signs of improvement. Tim Hall of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources says it's exactly what the state needs to overcome years of dry and drought conditions. He says signs are pointing for wetter than normal conditions this spring, which will continue to help erase the excessive dry conditions which have plagued most of the state.
The latest U-S Drought Monitor still shows most of Iowa (78%) as abnormally dry or in some form of drought, but the severity of the drought has eased. Most of northwest Iowa is still in severe drought. Two counties, Woodbury and Monona remain extremely dry, with areas of extreme and exceptional drought.
