(Lincoln, NE) -- A bill in the Nebraska Legislature would fund historic sites in the state. Legislative Bill 474 sets aside $35,000,000 for History Nebraska to purchase and update the Mayhew Cabin, a stop on the underground railroad, and John Brown's Cave in Nebraska City. It also provides funds to upgrade Fort Robinson and create a Standing Bear museum.
The Mayhew Cabin has been in disrepair as of late due to flooding in 2019, it is currently managed by a foundation.
