(Polk County, Iowa) -- The Polk County Sheriff's Office says a vehicle found in the Des Moines River will be removed when conditions are safe.

The Sherriff's Office says it received reports of the vehicle spotted in the river near the Sycamore boat ramp on Friday. Crews from the Johnston Fire Department were able to break through the vehicle's moon roof and determine that no one was inside. Investigators say the vehicle may have been stolen, but that has yet to be confirmed.

The Polk County Sheriff's Office says they will have more information once the vehicle is removed from the water.
