(Des Moines, IA) -- The Iowa Senate is debating a bill today that would help rural hospitals get additional funding.
Small hospitals in Iowa could get financial help under the Rural Emergency Hospital designation.
The facilities would need to provide 24/7 emergency medical services, but would no longer be able to give any inpatient care.
The hospitals that opt-in to R-E-H would get higher reimbursement rates from Medicare and an additional monthly facility payment.
