(Des Moines, IA) -- A cold front is rolling into Iowa, bringing with it 40-50 mph winds in central and western Iowa. A Wind Advisory will be in effect late this (Thursday) afternoon into Friday morning for a large part of central and western Iowa.
Northwest Iowa will be under a Winter Weather Advisory, due to predicted snow fall and high winds. The National Weather service says even with a light amount of snow, roads could become slick. Winds are also expected to cause blowing snow, reducing visibility.
The strongest winds are expected tonight (Thursday), but blustery conditions will continue into Saturday. Temperatures will also be very cold today, tomorrow and Saturday. The NWS predicts temperatures in the 30s by Sunday and 50s next week.
