The Omaha Public Power District says they are going to use drones for aerial survey of transmission lines and equipment.
Usually conducted with helicopters, the district says the exams are a regular part of OPPD’s system maintenance.
The latest survey work begins Monday and will take 10-15 days to complete, factoring in the weather.
People within the Omaha metro area south to Nebraska City may see drones near power lines and equipment.
The company says local airfields and aviation agencies are to be notified of flight plans.
