(Davenport, IA) -- A Davenport food pantry is asking for help from the public after seeing more people than expected.
The Fairmount Food Pantry opened in mid-February and saw 217 people in the first three weeks of opening.
The food pantry says it already had to cut back on hours to only being open on Monday and Wednesday to accommodate.
Fairmount Food Pantry is now asking the community to help out by keeping their shelves stocked.
The pantry also applied with River Band Food Bank in hopes to purchase food from River Bend to keep up with the community's needs.
The pantry is now averaging 200 people per week, and is stocking 200 to 300 food items - but is still in need of more.
