(Le Claire, IA) -- Team Iowa and team Illinois both say the annual tug-of-war event across the Mississippi River will happen this year, but with a twist.
In a Facebook post, Tug Fest Iowa and Illinois said a barge will be anchored in the river to help even out current tension on the rope.
The Illinois and Iowa teams stalled discussion to continue the tradition in February due to low attendance and belief that the Illinois side had an unfair advantage due to the currents in the Mississippi.
Tug Fest 2023 will take place August 10-12.
