(Iowa) -- Iowa's unemployment rate continues to fall.
The state's unemployment rate fell to 2.9 percent in February, down from 3 percent in January. More than 1.6 million Iowans are employed in the state, a jump of 1,300 since January and 3,900 higher than a year ago. Iowa Workforce Development Director Beth Townsend says:
"The move this month was primarily driven by the unemployed finding employment. They're out there looking for jobs, finding jobs, and taking jobs, so that's a good sign."
The state's manufacturing industry added 700 jobs in February. More than 8,400 more Iowans are employed since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
