(Johnston, IA) -- Firefighters from the Johnston-Grimes Fire Department brought home the traveling axe after winning the 2023 Fight For Air Climb.
The competition was based on the time it took firefighters to climb the stairs at four downtown Des Moines buildings, including:
- EMS Insurance Company - 15 floors and 371 steps
- Two times through the Financial Center - 22 floors and 464 steps
- The Ruan Center - 32 Floors and 637 steps
The annual competition raises money for the American Lung Association and involved representatives all Des Moines metro fire departments.
