Southeast Omaha Fire Investigated

Investigators continue to look for the cause of a Omaha house fire.

Firefighters say the fire at 35th and Hascall Streets Monday afternoon was difficult because of its location in the basement of the house.

The fire department says the home was occupied at the time of the fire and two people escaped with a dog and were outside as firefighters pulled up.

Firefighters rescued a dog from the house, but a ferret was found deceased in the basement.

The fire was controlled in about 20 minutes.

Three people have been displaced.
