Iowa Awards $25 Million In Historic Preservation Tax Credits

(Des Moines, IA) -- The state of Iowa is approving more than $25 (M) million in tax credits for historic building restorations. Among the recipients: The Val Air Ballroom in West Des Moines, which is getting $3.4 (M) million in tax credits for a restoration and modernization project. Meredith Hall at Drake University is getting $3 (M) million in tax credits for a renovation project.

Projects in Des Moines' Sherman Hill Neighborhood are also getting funding. The Concord building is getting $1 million in tax credits, the Van Cruz Apartment project is getting more than $380,000 in tax credits.

The Iowa Department of Economic Development Authority is also approving Historic Preservation Tax Credits to three properties in Marshalltown, the Hopkins, the Gildner, and the Willard building. Historic preservation tax credits are also going to projects in Burlington, Cedar Rapids, Clinton, Davenport, Downey, Dubuque, and Dyersville.
