Strong Storms Likely In Iowa Friday

(Des Moines, IA) -- National Weather Service forecasters are predicting strong storms to develop and move quickly across Iowa early Friday afternoon. Storms could pack potentially damaging, strong winds and are expected to move rapidly at about 50 MPH. Forecasters say in addition to damaging winds, tornadoes and hail are less likely than strong wind damage, but are also possible between 1-7 p.m.

Widespread severe storms are especially possible in eastern Iowa Friday.

A Wind Advisory remains in effect until 4 p.m. today (Thursday) thru 7 a.m. Friday for Iowa's westernmost counties. Winds of 25-35 mph with some guests up to 50 mph are possible. Forecasters say the wind advisory could be extended into Friday afternoon and Friday night.
