Investigators: First Star Fire Caused By Malfunctioning Equipment

(Omaha, NE) -- We now know the cause of this week's fire at a southwest Omaha recycling plant. The fire broke out around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday at First Star Recycling at 10330 I Street. Investigators say it was caused by malfunctioning machinery involving combustible material. During the fire a fire captain got separated from a fire hose, prompting a Mayday call. The captain we found and is ok. The fire did around $200,000 worth of damage.
