(Des Moines, IA) -- A Central Iowa man is charged in a 39-count tax fraud indictment.
Investigators say Bakou Kees Vonty, also known as Bob Vonty, prepared tax returns for customers.
He's accused of not explaining his clients returns or providing copies.
Vonty's also accused of putting false deduction and expense information to increase his clients' refunds.
Vonty's also accused of filing several of his own federal returns knowing they contained false information.
If convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of three years in prison on each count.
