(Des Moines, IA) -- The Des Moines City Council is set to consider a nearly $990 million dollar budget proposal on Monday.
Cities across Iowa are trying to make up for lower property tax revenue than expected, after the state legislature fixed a property tax calculation error earlier this year.
The city of Des Moines is planning to use $3 million dollars in American Rescue Plan Act funding to make up for the loss.
The proposed total for the upcoming fiscal year is about $100 million dollars less than this year's city budget.
