(Omaha, NE) -- A Community Corrections Center-Omaha inmate dies at a local hospital.
The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services says on Wednesday, 35 year old Chance Ryks was transported by EMS from his work location in the community to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. The Nebraska State Patrol is conducting the investigation into his death.
Ryks' sentence began on October 17, 2016. He was serving an eight to 16-year sentence for second degree assault out of Sarpy County. The cause of death has not yet been determined. As is the case whenever an inmate dies in the custody of the NDCS, a grand jury will conduct an investigation.
