(Des Moines, IA) -- Two teens facing murder charges in the Starts Right Here shooting will have separate trials.
A judge granted the request from 19-year-old Bravon Tukes' lawyer. The separation will allow 18-year-old Preston Walls to testify in Tukes’ trial, which could exonerate him.
Walls is accused of killing 16-year-old Rashad Carr and 18-year-old Gionni Dameron, and injuring Starts Right Here founder Will Keeps on January 23, 2023. Tukes is accused of driving Walls to and from the scene.
Walls’ trial begins May 1.
