(Lincoln, NE) -- A controversial bill about youth transgender children passes a second round of debate in the Nebraska Legislature.
On Thursday, Nebraska lawmakers advanced the 'Let Them Grow' Act to a third and final round of debate. The bill would limit gender altering healthcare treatments like surgeries, hormone therapy and puberty blockers for anyone in Nebraska under the age of 19. The bill's advance came following hours of filibustering by Democratic state senators.
Debate on the bill, sponsored by Senator Kathleen Kauth, has brought hundreds of Nebraskans to the state capitol to protest, with those in opposition saying it infringes on the rights of parents and transgender youth.
