(Coal Valley, IL) -- Niabi Zoo is open for the season starting today.
The zoo is introducing several new animals including a baby African Cape porcupine born in January, new red river hogs, bald eagles, prairie dogs, and African-painted dogs.
This will be the first time Niabi Zoo has had a pig species.
The zoo also plans to add "Scooter Pals" e-scooters for guests to ride around.
The giraffe habitat holding Kenya the giraffe and other primates will be closed as the zoo says some animals are more susceptible to COVID-19.
Niabi Zoo has about 600 animals and about 250 unique species.
The zoo will be open every day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
