(Johnston, IA) -- The city of Johnston is being recognized as one of 20 Iowa communities to qualify for the Tree City USA Growth Award.
The city received the award from the Arbor Day Foundation and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources on April 12th at an event in Ankeny. To be selected to receive the award, a city must provide planning and management, education and public relations, partnerships, tree planting events, and community maintenance.
