Iowa's Unemployment Rate Continues to Fall

(Iowa) -- A new report from Iowa Workforce Development shows March was a good month for Iowa's economy.

The state's overall unemployment rate fell from 2.9% to 2.8% from February to March, and the state's labor force added 2,700 jobs during that same period. As of March, 1,675,500 Iowans are working, which is 4,400 higher than February, and 2,000 more than this time last year. Iowa's labor force participation rate rose to 68.2 percent in March. The education, healthcare, and manufacturing sectors saw the biggest job growth from February to March. The state's unemployment rate has made a full recovery from jobs lost during the COVID-19 pandemic and added an additional 11,000 jobs.
