A judge dismisses the petition to have a La Vista boy missing since May of 2021 declared legally dead.
The petition by his mother to have 11-year-old Ryan Larsen declared legally dead argued it was unlikely he's still alive due to his autism and other medical conditions.
However, the judge said there wasn't enough evidence to make that conclusion.
Under Nebraska law, a person who is missing is pronounced dead if not found after five years.
If he's not found at any point in the next few years, Ryan Larsen would be presumed dead in approximately May of 2026.
She sought the petition in order to move forward on legal issues.
