Windy Weather Expected To Create Big River Waves In Quad Cites

(Davenport, IA) -- Strong winds are in the forecast for the Quad Cities this weekend, right about the time the Mississippi River is expected to crest. The National Weather Service is calling for 30-to-40 mph winds from Saturday into Sunday which will likely cause some choppy water, even waves several feet high on the swollen river.

The Mississippi is still expected to crest Monday, May 1st at around 21.6 feet in Rock Island, then slowly recede. The flood is expected to rank in the top five biggest crests in history at that location along the Mississippi River.

The crests between Dubuque and Camanche is likely to be the 3rd highest crest in history.
