U.S News and World Report Ranks Iowa Among Top Ten Best States

(Iowa) -- U.S. News and World Report ranks Iowa among the top ten states in the nation in its new 2023 national study.

Iowa ranks 7th overall in the the latest edition of the Best States Project, which examines how all 50 states serve their residents. The study uses more than 70 metrics across 8 categories including crime and correction, economy, education, fiscal stability, healthcare, infrastructure, natural environment, and opportunity.

The top ten best states according to the study include:

  1. Utah
  2. Washington
  3. Idaho
  4. Nebraska
  5. Minnesota
  6. New Hampshire
  7. Iowa
  8. Wisconsin
  9. Vermont
  10. Florida

The state ranking at the bottom of the list in 2023 is Louisiana. The full survey is available at the U.S. News and World Report website.
