(Mount Pleasant, IA) -- Iowa Wesleyan University is graduating their last class. After first opening in 1842, the school is closing at the end of the month.
Iowa Wesleyan is helping students transfer through agreements with William Penn University, Upper Iowa University, University of Dubuque, and Culver-Stocken College.
Iowa Wesleyan owes around $26 million in loans from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The university made the decision to close after Governor Kim Reynolds denied a request for $12 million in assistance in American Rescue Plan Act funding.
